SMALL ISLAND DEVELOPING STATES @ UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY

As part of Ireland’s UN General Assembly week, our President Michael D Higgins co-hosted a reception with the Prime Minister of Fiji, Frank Bainimarama.

CREATE // THE BRIEF

Catapult were tasked with turning the Delegates Dining Room in the UN, into a co-branded reception, attended by numerous Diplomats, Ambassadors, Presidents and Prime Ministers, with staging, screens, performance space, catering and lighting…with a 2 hour turnaround!

EXPERIENCE //

Working with the team from the Permanent Irish Mission to the UN, their counterparts in the Fijian Mission and UN staffing, the dining room was transformed from a 200 person restaurant into a 400 person reception in 120 minutes…while squeezing in a soundcheck and a quick rehearsal.

With musicians from over 21 countries meeting and performing for the first time, alongside the speeches by heads of state, coupled with the stunning views provided by the location on the banks of the Hudson river, resulted in an evening where connections were made and relationships strengthened.

IMPACT //

It was a massive week for Ireland at United Nations General Assembly – including summits for Youth, Climate, SDGs, Universal Healthcare + Small Islands. The feedback received by the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Irish Mission to the UN was overwhelmingly positive and adds to Ireland’s Security Council campaign – we were delighted to be part of it.
