IRELAND’S UN SECURITY COUNCIL CAMPAIGN LAUNCH

CREATE // THE BRIEF

Design and produce an outdoor event on the front lawn of UN Hq in NYC, that successfully communicated the key tenants of Ireland’s campaign to be elected onto the UN Security Council in 2020. With every country’s Ambassador invited, the focus was on the guest experience in an environment that showcased Ireland’s values.

EXPERIENCE //

We designed and built distinct areas, each representing core pillars of the clients’ comms strategy, while ensuring they were interactive and enjoyable for each attendee. From a display of Irish Defence Forces involvement in UN Peacekeeping forces for 6 decades, through to our unique food, culture + hospitality, to building a main stage for both performances and speeches – including the Tanaiste, the Taoiseach, Bono and Mary Robinson.

IMPACT //

Each of the 5 government departments – Dept of an Taoiseach, Dept of Foreign Affairs, Bord Bia, Dept of Defence + the Office of Public Works – were delighted with the feedback from guests, Ambassadors, country missions and the press alike. It set the tone of engagement for the campaign to come.

The Irish Ambassador to the United Nations, Geraldine Byrne Nason wrote in a note to Catapult afterwards, ‘It is rare that Ireland has such a high profile opportunity on the global stage to highlight our values and principles. Your contribution in realising our vision for this important event was critical to our success’.
